Day 6: King Tut's Trots

It was early morning, around 4:00 AM, when I awoke to a bad case of Pharaoh's revenge.  It seems that I may have digested something that was not meant to go inside of my body.  Of course, this was not the only time that the toilet and me were acquainted.  I spent much of the morning getting rid of that "Oriental pie" that probably packed close to 2000 calories.  Therefore, in a way, I was glad to get rid of it before every calorie was absorbed into my body.

Beverly stated that it may have been all the fruit juice we were drinking that caused these trots.  She may be right.  We were drinking a great amount of fruit juice here, something we don't do at home.  We have read that the fruit juice (and how it is made) can cause diarrhea and we did not hold back when it came to loading our bodies with the stuff.  Now we wonder when we will be brave enough to consume another fruity drink.

Needless to say, we spent most of our day inside resting and sleeping.  We finally got quite hungry and headed out for some dinner to take back to the hotel.  We got some lentil soup and fries and bread at Mohammed Ahmed.  We then got a small cake at a local bakery.  The verdict is still out if that cake will agree with us or not.

It has been a while now since I have dropped the deuce, but, frankly, there could have not been much left inside of me due to the fact that I basically spent my entire morning riding the porcelain.  Now that there is a nice little collection of soup and snackfood in my digestive tract, I am keeping track of how long it will be before I find myself climbing back on board the toilet and crying out like a banshee.

In other news, there was a 5.0 magnitude earthquake in Cairo Saturday and the U.S. Embassy has stated that Americans should not go to the pyramids.  I think that statement came out the day we were there.  They probably saw us being hassled there and figured that nobody should have to go through that.

I wish there was more to put here, but I will be adding more tomorrow.  We were going to leave Alexandria tomorrow, but since we did not get to see the catacombs today we will spend one more day here.  Thanks for reading!
